A Slice of Pretty

Lately, I've been craving a big slice of sugary cake.  Perhaps it's because there are no friend's upcoming birthdays in sight, perhaps it's because I've been drinking my meals this week, perhaps I just want a freaking piece of cake!

Sorry for the outburst, I'm just getting a little sick of applesauce and mashed potatoes...

Anyway, I've been drooling over these beautiful, creative cakes from Nine Cakes in Brooklyn for the past hour.  You won't tell anyone if I go to Brooklyn just for a slice of cake right?

OMG, this one would be perfect for a fall fete!

Yummy, yummy, yummy...

Clearly their cake decorators are tres talented!  However, I love their more simplistic and classic options too.

Perfect pastel prettiness

What a spread!

An Explanation...

This is what my week has consisted of so far...

No solid foods...

Cold Compresses and Lots of Meds

That's right folks, your's truly had a wisdom tooth pulled yesterday.  The experience itself wasn't so bad but recovery has kept me pretty out of it.  I hope to be fully recovered in the next day or so and back to blogging!

Peachy

I've seen lemons/limes/oranges floated before but never peaches.  I love this idea for a summer party when peaches are in their prime!

Cheap Thrill

Although they don't last very long (these made it only two days,) a bouquet from the nearby bodega makes me happy every time.

Happiness Is...

...a blank canvas, a glass of Sancerre, and Florence and the Machine.

Brooklyn Flea

Apologies for being mia, I'm back and ready to blog!

One crosstown bus, three subway lines, and a cab took me and a few friends Saturday morning to Brooklyn (Fort Greene specifically,) to check out the Brooklyn Flea.  Although the commute was ridiculous (I'm convinced there must be an easier way,) they hosted some really fun vendors and fantastic local food selections.  Unfortunately I forgot my camera and had to snap these with my Blackberry, but they'll give you a little taste of this beautiful late summer afternoon.

Really cool shaved ice station at People's Pops.
