We Live in Public

Last night we saw "We Live in Public." Very interesting and compelling documentary about where our society is headed. And because this was the first public showing, the director and main character were both available for Q&A after the show=very cool, very New York, it made me happy.

Check it out when it comes to your city!

Two in One

Okay, so maybe posting once a day was getting a little ahead of myself. If I can't remember to take my One A Day vitamin, I probably can't remember to write each day either. But, when I miss a day, I will make up for it as you can see below:

I LOVE to eat. It definitely comes from my mom's side of the family. We always joke about how we plan our days based on our meals. At breakfast, I want to know what's for lunch, at lunch "what's for dinner?" etc. A tasting event is my dream come true...at least until I saw this:

Not only can you walk around sampling food from well-known NYC chefs, but there are also meet and greets with tennis pros Andy Roddick, Lleyton Hewitt, and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga to name a few! My love for tennis and eating combined? Say no more! If only this were free...but, like most fabulous NY events, they are raising money for a very important charity and therefore=not free. Proceeds go to the Food Bank of New York. And last year they raised enough funds to feed 103,900 needy New Yorkers.

The event is tomorrow night and although I am not lucky enough to go, I will be dreaming tonight of the day Andy Roddick cooks for me!

Wearing Your Heart on Your...Foot?

Wouldn't these be the perfect party shoe this fall/holiday season? That little heart is just too sweet-in a good way of course...and they come in black too if "poppy" is too daring for you. I'm going to force myself to go with the brighter poppy shade of red-too much black already in this New Yorker's wardrobe. Kate Spade's entire line-up is always fantastic. And take it from a girl that hates to wear heels, they are all surprisingly very comfortable and wearable! genny at kate spade

Gonna try this one again. Still getting the hang of this...love this KOL live version of "Knocked Up." Check it out, love Caleb here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dcJN68PuOVQ

Strawberry Shortcake

I've made this cake many times but think this is the prettiest one yet! It's a two-layer strawberry shortcake that is simple to make, (only 4 ingredients: strawberries, sugar, cream, and an angel food cake.) The work is in the assembly but it's all worth it. We loved it and I'm going to enjoy it for breakfast this week too!

Self-Promotion

Typically I would consider self-promotion extremely gaudy. However, in times like these, you've gotta do what you've gotta do. My first post and "favorite thing" is http://www.etsy.com. My mom encouraged me recently to start selling my art. It was never an idea that appealed to me. I paint things I like and grow very attached to them during the process. But after a little investigating on this artist-friendly website, I was hooked and couldn't wait to upload my stuff and get started. It has been so exciting and overwhelming hearing people's responses to my paintings and that has been reward enough, although selling them has been exciting too! Follow the link above for some really cool, creative and original items. And here's the link to my page too. Gah, shameless self-promotion, here you go: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=7703505&ga_search_query=sloan&ga_search_type=seller_usernames
