New Order

Incredibly special song to me. I basically only listened to New Order for the first year I lived in NYC. I've always felt like if my life had a soundtrack, New Order would own the rights to it. If only they'd get back together so I could enjoy them live as much as this crowd, I guess for now I'll have to settle for youtube....

Marie Antoinette-the movie

I can't tell you how many of my paintings have been inspired by this one movie trailer for Marie Antoinette by Sofia Coppola. The song, the clothes, the opulence, the attitude, the running of the horses and the running of Kirsten Dunst at the end....I could go on....and I will, in the next post because New Order makes me feel (especially when I've had lots to drink:)) The movie is like watching a painting, it's beautiful and it makes me smile.

Roarke New York

Typically, jewelry is just not my thing. It's either a silver or gold day for me and even those pieces are generally very small and delicate. I tend to blame this on my mother, she has never worn much either, only those that are most meaningful.

I've always encouraged her to wear more and more jewelry.."see, three bangles looks better than one, I don't know why you don't wear your mother's gorgeous humongous cocktail ring, and even...yes, you can pair a gold necklace with brushed silver," yadda, yadda, yadda. Clearly, I should heed my own advice!

A couple of weeks ago I was scanning through pictures of New York Fashion week on Zimbio (want to be sure to start giving proper photo credits-oops) and saw Mary Louise Parker wearing this amazing necklace. Like I said, it's not everyday that I stop and stare at jewelry so excitedly. So I did some research and the necklace is from Roarke New York, a fairly new company that my amateur fashion eye believes has staying power. Their exquisite collection of beaded chiffon necklaces, bracelets, headpieces, and ties are sure to turn heads (like mine.) And their website is pretty cool too, be sure to find the color wheel of necklaces, ahhhh....it makes me happy.

Christopher Bailey/Burberry Prorsum

I have always been a fan of Burberry. But lately, with Creative Director Christopher Bailey's help, the Burberry Prorsum line has really captured my eye. And Tuesday night's show at London Fashion Week did not disappoint. He has done amazing things with twisting and draping fabrics to alter the always classic Burberry trench. Here are a few of my favorite examples, I would be more than happy to own any one of them!

Channy

Isn't he sweet? This is my Jack Russell Terrier, Chandler Bing. I got him around the time Friends was really popular hence his name. I want to have him in NYC with me so badly but he's an old guy now and has Nashville roots. Don't think he'd know what to make of the big city. I snapped this pic with my phone of him sleeping the last time I was home and when I'm going through my pictures, I always stop at this one and it makes me smile:)

Rosebud Salve

Can't get enough of this stuff. Addiction is probably the best word to describe my thoughts on this classic product from Smith's. It has a light, yummy rose smell and is not too sticky like most lip balms. Try it!

Fried Sausage Stuffed Olives

Last night Taylor took me to Morandi. This Keith McNally restaurant has it all, a scene and cuisine that did not disappoint. Both of our meals were great. However, one of our appetizers stole the show. Fried sausage stuffed olives. Seriously??! They were awesome! I'm not a huge olive eater so this was a perfect combination that kept the olive taste but was not too bitter. I only wish we hadn't eaten them so fast so I could've gotten a picture! I'm going back soon for more:) 211 Waverly Place and 7th Ave

Afternoon Snack

Especially on a dreary day like today, an afternoon treat is more than welcome. Today, mine is old school Swiss Miss hot chocolate with marshmallows and this morning's edition of WWD=so happy!

The Lovely Bones

I am currently reading The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. After seeing the preview for the movie version, I knew I had to read it. The book is a little difficult to read before bed since it is the story of 14 year old Susie Salmon, who was raped and murdered and then has to watch her family and killer from heaven. So instead I bring it to work everyday and cherish the 15 minute bus ride home when I get to read it. I have instantly fallen in love with all of the characters (minus Susie's murderer of course,) and I know it will be a hard one to say goodbye to when I finish. But then I'll have the movie to look forward to which comes out December 11th!

Pumpkin Spice Latte

It's back! When I walked to work yesterday and felt the crisp cool morning air, I had a feeling it was only a short amount of time before I'd hear those three sweet, wonderful words, PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE! Every fall I get excited for this drink and even though Starbucks recently raised prices on "specialty drinks," I allowed myself one this morning (not to mention, because I take mine with soy, it's .40 extra.) It's a very sweet drink with a spicey cinnamon finish, not for you hardcore black coffee drinkers. But I love it and today I'm happy because of my grande soy pumpkin spice latte. And yes, that is the correct way to order the drink:)
