A Big Fan

Okay, so I failed to get out my 2nd Hump Day Hues for the day, I have a feeling you'll give me a break when you see these really creative and fun fans for programs.  I could see them handed out as invitations for a neighborhood party, set out at tables to indicate where your guests should sit, even as favors for your guests on a hot night.

Are you a fan?

Hump Day Hues (7)

Thank you for your sweet comments about my Chandler, they really do mean so much to me.  Chandler would've liked this Hump Day Hues, he ate anything and everything, dirty socks were his preference but he certainly wouldn't turn his nose up at a peach.

A Bittersweet Fourth

I'm about to make up for being MIA with some serious blogging.  My plan is to hit you up with two, not one, TWO Hump Day Hues and if possible, hopefully a belated Friday Flowers, ambition is the word today!

But first I thought I might explain my absence.  Obviously we are recovering from a big holiday weekend and I don't have to tell you how hot it was.  According to my mom, that's all they talked about on the Today Show yesterday.  This 4th of July weekend was marked with two incredibly exciting moments, two of my best friends engaged!  Their future husbands couldn't have done a better job and each engagement was so appropriate for each friend.  Emily and Jose were on a trip to Chicago, her favorite city and his first trip ever.  He popped the question in front of the bean and was so smart to get it all captured on film.

Apparently she kept stepping backwards at this point.
Disbelief, shock, and pure excitement can make you do funny things.
They're getting married!

I'm still anxiously awaiting Katy's pics from the engagement.  Michael proposed Sunday among all of Katy's family and under the stars at their lakehouse.  I can't think of anything more perfect.
This is Katy and Michael and Dolly, what a cute family.

I spent my 4th of July with KTW and some friends out at Bayonne Golf Club.
It was a perfect day, I told KTW I felt like the Kennedy's and he should call me Jackie all day, he forgot.
But seriously, look at this place, gorgeous!
The clubhouse.

The clubhouse looks out over the golf course and across the harbor to the Manhattan skyline.

Blonde Jackie.

We took a ferry from Battery Park to the club.  Once we docked, we took a golf cart up this road to the clubhouse.

Had trouble with my camera settings on the ferry back to Manhattan.  This is the Statue of Liberty.
Too many vodka lemonades make for a bad photographer.

And finally, the bitter part of my weekend...
After a long, happy life, my little Jack Russell Terrier, Chandler Bing had to be put down Saturday.  I named him after the Friends character when he was given as a gift for Christmas one year.  Although there were many variations of that name, Chan, Channy, Bing, ChanChanMan, and my personal nickname for him, CheeseburgerChan.  He was the sweetest little boy and I will miss him a lot.  We used to call him dry-clean dog because he never had a spot of dirt anywhere.  He was a little OCD and I believe that if he could've spoken to us, he definitely would've had a British accent, always so proper.  There are many things I could say about him and about the loss of a pet, but I think I'll stop now and just share some pics.

He and my grandmother were pretty tight.

A New Fave Borough

Last night I hopped on the E train after work to head out to Queens, Forest Hills specifically.  My new project, which I'm still not at liberty to fully disclose, took me out this way for a meeting.  I arrived a little early and was so glad I did because I discovered a new favorite!  Tree lined streets, Tudor style homes, yards covered in hydrangeas of every color, kids running and scooting on scooters right down the middle of the street, and only 30 minutes by train from NYC!

A Boatload

Hoping to get to my Hump Day Hues out this afternoon but it's looking like I might have a little trouble making it happen.  I've got a lot on my plate today...

...and speaking of having a lot on my plate...

Wouldn't you just kill to fill up your plate from this boat of shrimp and oysters?  What a fun idea for a beachy or summertime event!

I am absolutely, totally, and completely convinced...

...that this is my new favorite restaurant!

Now, first, I must admit, I have not dined, walked into, had a drink at, or even seen this restaurant.  But one look at these images and menu and I was SOLD!

Last fall KTW took me to his alma mater BC, for a football game and to see Boston.  While there we saw beautiful Boston College, I ate my first bowl of clam chowder from Union Oyster House, stayed at a fantastic hotel, and I even got to visit with an old high school friend who lives there now.  One thing on my list that we unfortunately did not have time for was Cambridge.  Which is fine by me, just means another trip to Boston right?!

Anyway, while looking through one of my favorite event blogs a few months back, I found a wedding reception at Upstairs on the Square, located in Harvard Square.  It blew me away, rooms awash in bright pink and gold.  High ceilings, mirrors everywhere, glam glam glam.  And then, I lost the link, aren't bloggers supposed to keep better track?  Well it seems the blogging gods are in my corner today because I found the post again and this time I wasn't going to lose it!  Here are some images to share what I've been drooling over for the past hour.  Won't you meet me and the zebra there for a cocktail this fall?

This is what I assume it looks like right now.  The outside is cute and charming but wait until we go inside...
One more shot of the outside, I'm guessing it does not look like this right now.
A custom menu for a special night.
Oh my, this room is called a colorful jewel box-like supper club on their website.
I want to drink champagne and eat dessert there asap!
The zebra room, I'm sure you can guess why.
Lavender suede banquettes...I know...
Ready for a memorable night.
And if that's not enough to convince you, stop by Lisa Rigby's site.
She's the photographer for the reception shots and you can see more here and here.
She really does a great job of capturing this venue's character and the happiness of these parties.
