The New Slim?

I've always loved Slim Aarons iconic photographs of the wealthy and fabulous doing what they do...

And just recently (today) I discovered another photographer with a similar style, although very new and fresh.  This shot really grabbed my attention sice I just visited Surf Lodge in Montauk for Memorial Day weekend.  Please take a look at James Merrell's site, warning, it might distract you for at least an hour.

This Room....

....Must be mine!  There are a million little things I like about it and the feeling it evokes.
  1. D. Porthault Linens, they will be a must when I'm rich and famous, the little pink hearts are the sweetest.
  2. The GingerLily duvet, fluffy and luxurious, not mountainous-ly puffy like most down-filled duvets.
  3. The ginormous, uncovered window.  When you live a few floors up in an adorable brownstone in the West Village, (note: I do not.) it's ok, to keep your windows open, so much easier to yell down to the delivery man that the buzzer is broken. (note: My buzzer is broken, very broken, sounds like a stuttering fire engine.)
  4. The wallpaper.  Yes, I love wallpaper, can we still be friends?
  5. Her Macbook is bigger than mine.
  6. There's not much better than waking up to french pressed coffee, orange juice, and pastries in bed.  (Okay, maybe if Matthew McConaughey was there too...)
  7. Stacks and stacks of books.
  8. Fresh flowers on the nightstand.
  9. Tartan throw at the end of the bed.
  10. Ultimately I like this room so much because it is intensly cozy, as a bedroom should be.  And, it shows that people can really do so much more than sleep in their beds.  I'm definitely a "bed person."  I could literally live in my bed, especially if it was this one :)

Hump Day Hues (3)

Today's color: Orange
I realize orange is more of a fall color but I'm feeling these images today, agreed?

I'd Like to File a Complaint

Allergies have officially taken over.  My contacts are driving me nuts and have been for weeks.  So I dragged myself to the eye doctor today so he could have a look.  Diagnosis: Allergies.  Um, yea, I know!

He gave me a prescription for some eye drops that I apply once in the morning and wait 15 minutes before putting my contacts in, and then once again before bed.  Oh, and I can't miss a single drop for two weeks or they don't work, awesome.

So I fill the prescription and pick it up at 6pm and this is what I get:

$40.00 later, this teeny tiny bottle better cure my ailment.  Have I become cheap or do you also see this as a tad ridiculous?  Would love to hear your thoughts.  And apologies for complaining, I swear, it's not my nature but this really got me going this afternoon!

Delayed Friday Flowers (6)

As promised, here are some hydrangea ideas, love these gorgeous bountiful flowers!  The blue ones are my favorite :)

What a dress!

I want this in my backyard.  Oh, and I want a backyard...

That last shot is just beautiful, don't you agree?  Check back later for Hump Day Hues!

Montauk

For Memorial Day weekend, we took the train out to Montauk for a few days.  We had perfect weather, great food and drinks, and loved just about everything this surfer village had to offer.

Our first night, we ate lobster tacos at The Gig Shack and it took all of our effort to not order four more plates. They were so light and tasty. The live band made it a perfect summer night. Because of the band's proximity to the sidewalk, passersby could stop and dance a little or sit down on the picnic tables and benches to enjoy. For dessert, we were told the red velvet cake was a must. Isn't all red velvet cake a must? So we did. And we were happy, very very happy.

Joni's was another fave that we would have eaten at probably five more times if the line wasn't always so long. Breakfast here is a madhouse but worth the wait and there were so many yummy looking items on the lunch menu too, next time...

As you can see, outdoor seating is a must in Montauk.

Cocktails at the Surf Lodge for sunset.
